Dukes has welcomed guests to St James's for more than a century. As custodians of this historic hotel, we recognise our responsibility to preserve its legacy while reducing our environmental impact. We are committed to operating responsibly, supporting our people and local community, and delivering the exceptional standards our guests expect.

We recognise that meaningful sustainability is achieved through consistent action. By embedding responsible practices throughout our operations, working closely with our suppliers and continually reviewing the way we operate, we aim to make a positive contribution both today and for the future.

Dukes will adhere to the requirements of all relevant local, national and international law pertaining to the environmental aspects and impacts of the hotel and ensure that this policy is kept up to date and in line with those requirements.

We encourage our team members to operate in the most sustainable manner through continuous monitoring of our consumption, reasonable purchasing, and having positive relationships with our suppliers, stakeholders, and the wider community. At the same time, we promote the well-being of our team members by providing a safe, inclusive and healthy working environment whilst promoting equal opportunities for growth, ongoing training and development.

  • Saving water and energy
  • Reducing carbon emissions
  • Significantly reducing waste that ends up at landfill
  • Developing new sustainability initiatives
  • Continuing improvement in sustainability, energy efficiency and annual benchmarking
  • Focusing on education and training externally and internally
  • Continuing to introduce more and more local suppliers and seasonal ingredients
  • Supporting and giving preference to local products and services
